Will Audi Q3 Be Here To Counter BMW X1?

Audi AG, the German giant is in no mood to stay away from Indian market. Yesterday we had reported that Audi started assembly of their successful SUV Q5 in India. This indicates Audi’s long term business strategy which could be a homogenous mixture of sedans and SUVs. Their arch rival, another German major BMW is all set to launch their compact SUV X1 in India. So naturally Audi can not just act as a spectator, and Audi Q3 could be their answer for BMW X1.

Autobuild’s July edition  sports a rendering of upcoming Audi Q3. German automakers are now focusing on compact SUV segment  which may witness explosion of demand in near future. Audi Q3 compact sedan may become  reality by end of 2011. Q3 is believed to be an extension of Audi’s successful A5 platform. This compact SUV may rollout from Audi’s plant in Spain. Audi India too have the option of local assembly as they got a very good manufacturing set up in India. We know we are expecting a lot, let us see whether Audi will bring this much wanted product to Indian roads.

BMW  is planning to launch their compact offering X1 by first quarter of 2011. It may carry a price tag of less than Rs.30lacs which could be the  USP of X1 in India. BMW is expecting steep growth in compact SUV demand in India. Not only Audi and BMW planning compact SUV’s even Mercedes may soon reveal their offering in this segment. In future many others too may join the race for compact SUV market share in India. It seems finally automakers made up their mind to bring some sensible product so that they can fetch some good numbers.  We will be keeping a watchful eye on this development so stay tuned to Wheelosphere.

    It’s a sure shot from Audi that Q3 sales will affect the sales figure of BMW X1 bcoz of its competing price. Q5 and Q7 are already bumpers and loved models from Audi. Even in the other areas, Q3 will be acclaimed more. Audi is no doubt producing wrinkles on BMWs.
