1,049 bookings for Micra in 4 weeks; Does anybody know how much it costs?

Nissan’s latest small car on the block, the Micra has crossed over 1000 bookings within 4 weeks of launch. While the car will be officially launched only on July 14, the number of bookings is surprising especially considering the fact that Nissan are yet to announce the price of the car. Sources in the Industry say that the base model will sport a sub-4 lakh price tag. Nissan had earlier announced that the Micra will compete with the current crop of hatchbacks like the i10, Swift and i20 which retail between Rs 3.44 to 6.95 lakhs. Nissan even signed Ranbir Kapoor as brand ambassador and aired two television commercials to spread the word. Nissan targets 100,000 sales of the Micra by 2013 by when the Micra sedan and a mini-MPV based on the V-platform will also join the Micra.

“We are delighted with this encouraging initial response. With the launch of the new Nissan Micra next month, Nissan will begin an exciting journey in India aiming to provide Indian customers with a full range of products and services,” Nissan Motor India Managing Director and CEO Kiminobu Tokuyama said.
