J.D Power Asia Pacific 2009 Initial Quality study results bring good news for our automobile industry.The average score of the study improved by 32 problems per 100 vehicles compared to previous year’s results.The Japanese giant Honda reaffirmed their upper hand in quality by topping in two categories.Toyota,Maruti Suzuki,Chevrolet,Ford managed to score one top slot each in their participating category.
The J.D.Power IQS study indicates the number of problems reported by a new car customer between two and six months of the vehicle purchase.The problems lists covers 200 faults in eight problems category.The problem category includes engine and transmission, vehicle exterior, driving experience, HVAC; features, controls and displays,vehicle interior, seats, and audio, entertainment and navigation.
Honda Civic emerged as the least problematic car in initial ownership period, by reported only 46 problems per 100 vehicles.City earned another top slot for Honda in mid-size segment,this category witnessed neck-to-neck competition.While City managed to score 79 problems, Suzuki SX4 and Hyundai Verna stood at second and third place in this segment by scoring 80 and 82 problems.
"Owners who report an initial quality problem are much less likely to repurchase or recommend the same make, compared with those who do not report experiencing a problem. Loyalty and advocacy intentions decline by 9 and 14 percentage points, respectively, among owners who report experiencing problems during the initial ownership period."said J.D.Power Asia Pacific official.
