Though dimensionally it is same as out going Corolla Altis, it has got important changes from all departments including engine, exteriors and interiors. The new 2010 Corolla Altis sports front grille similar to previous version of Innova. The headlamps are powered by HID lamps and mounted in smoked glass enclosure. The tail lamp clusters too got a new design, which looks more attractive now.
Under the bonnet hood, Toyota planted a 2.0ltr dual VVTI engine in place of 1.6ltr engine. The engine is coupled with a CVT (Continuous Variable Transmission) gearbox, the new engine and gear box combination will further boost the fuel efficiency. Other than these major changes 2010 Toyota Corolla Altis has got a three spoke steering wheel and paddle shifters as part of offering.

UMW Toyota Motor Rolls Out The New Corolla Altis
Subang Jaya, September 23, 2010: The new Corolla Altis offering a sporty and dynamic look and feel was unveiled today. The Corolla Altis with a new facelift offers motor enthusiasts a vehicle that has impressive features.
The new Corolla Altis continues to deliver quality, safety, performance, style, comfort, reliability and value for money.
Commenting on the new Corolla Altis, Mr, Kuah Kock Heng, President UMW Toyota Motor Sdn. Bhd. said, “With these strong characteristics, UMW Toyota Motors expects to sell 800 units of the new Corolla Altis per month. As of today, we have received more than 300 bookings from customers.”
“Since the launch of the 10th generation Corolla Altis to the Malaysian market in 2008 until August 2010, we have placed over 14,500 Altis on the road. We intend to continue to make it a popular choice of vehicle,” said Mr. Kuah.
The new Corolla Altis has been further improved to meet customers’ expectations and it reflects Toyota’s commitment to constantly explore avenues to accommodate to customers’ valuable response.
The new Corolla Altis is equipped with newly designed exterior for a more dynamic and sporty look with new headlamps, front grille and rear tail lamps that present a sporty style sedan. The interior is further enhanced presenting a luxurious image with a combination of leather and wood on the steering and gear knob as well as the perforated leather seats that offers comfort.
The new Corolla Altis is a completely built-up (CBU) unit, manufactured in Thailand and is available in four variants such as the Altis 1.6E, Altis 1.8E, Altis 1.8G and the new variant – Altis 2.0V.
This sporty and dynamic looking model is equipped with powerful engine with Dual VVT- i (variable valve timing – intelligent) that offers power and performance, and the Super CVT-i with 7 speed sports sequential shift provides improved fuel efficiency, as well as smooth and responsive gear shifts.
Emphasising on the safety of the new model, Mr. Kuah said, “The new Corolla Altis has been equipped with dual front airbags, ABS with electronic brake force distribution, vehicle stability control and traction control. With these safety features in place, coupled with the improved specification, we are confident that the Corolla Altis will be well received by Malaysian customers.
“With the anticipated sales volume, it will contribute towards positioning Toyota as the top selling brand in the non-national category, said Mr. Kuah.
The new Corolla Altis was launched by Mr. Takashi Hibi, Deputy Chairman, UMW Toyota Motor Sdn. Bhd., YBhg Dato’ Abdul Halim Harun, President / Group CEO, UMW Holdings Bhd. and Mr. Kuah Kock Heng, President, UMW Toyota Motor Sdn. Bhd.
The new car is priced between RM106,000 to RM132,000 (on the road price in Peninsular Malaysia inclusive of insurance).
