In a surprising development Honda Motor Co, Japan has pulled the curtain of one of it’s most successful model Civic. Though there is no official announcement from Honda, on their official website Honda Civic has been moved from current offerings to auto archive page. Honda Civic has been facing fierce competition from Japanese and Germans for the last few months and we were expecting a new variant launch. But some sources suggest that Honda will be launching 2011 Civic in coming months.
Honda Motors web page clearly states that current generation Civic is (was) on sale in Japan from 09.2007 to 08.2010. That means Honda was waiting to complete two years for a pull back from sedan segment? If falling sale is the reason for above said move, then many other Honda products must have axed by this time. We had reported earlier that new generation Honda Civic will not see daylight before 2011. Because Honda themselves said that 2011 Civic will be a ground up design and will take much more time, but Civic R type hatchback is making good progress in testing. Considering all bits of news, Civic may take a small break at least for now. Anyway lots of unanswered questions remaining, let Honda answer them as and when they feel it is appropriate.
The eight generation Honda Civic which is currently on sale deserves a much better farewell. More than others Honda knows this, so we anticipate a formal announcement from Honda will happen soon. Stay tuned to Wheelosphere, as you know we will bring them as and when it reaches us.
