The face gets a major change and now resembles the family look that all Hyundais sport these days. There will be a new three cylinder 1.0L petrol engine with Stop-Start and VTVT (Variable Timing ValveTrain) which expected to set new boundaries for efficiency. The ‘Bluedrive’ model will emit just 99g/km CO2. However, the 1.0L version will be more expensive than the base 1.2L Kappa engine model. The trim names are in for a change as well – Era, Magna and Asta are now Classic, Active and Style although the new nomenclature might not make it to India.
The i10’s interiors now get blue backlighting like other Hyundais and there are new silver inserts in the dashboard. Indicator lights move to the ORVMs on higher spec variants. The instrument panel ditches analog temperature and fuel gauge for a digital setup that will now include a gear indicator. The bold look of the new i10 comes at a time when competition has increased from all corners. Hyundai will hope to beat the WagonR to take the lead in the segment with the new i10.
