Hyundai Motor’s R&D could be busiest product development department in Asian automotive industry. The seamless flow of new products coming out of Hyundai’s gates underlines this statement. Not only the number of launches happening but their products performance in respective segments surprises us. Hyundai is actively pursuing their MPV dream based on i20 hatchback. This new MPV could be christened as Hyundai iM30. The new MPV which is aimed to compete with proven products like VW Touran, Ford C Max and Opel Zafira. We are confident that Hyundai’s new ace can prove a stiff competition to others.
Hyundai’s this new MPV is developed on KIA’s Venga platform. The engine and transmission line up will get plenty of options starting from 1.4L 90bhp gasoline engine while a powerful 1.6L GDi producing 126bhp and 1.4L diesel extend the option further. Another diesel option (1.6L) with 128bhp will complete the range. We don’t want to predict the transmission options at this moment, Hyundai has the liberty to play around above said engines and their manual and auto boxes.
Hyundai may unveil the new MPV during Paris Motor Show. As we said in our last post, Hyundai i-series is a runaway success in India. Will they bring this MPV iM30 to Indian shores too? Wait and watch!
