2011 Hyundai Verna/Accent(Code Name:-RB) Spied Undisguised

2011 Hyundai Verna Accent Image

2011 Hyundai Verna/Accent (Code name:-RB) images and design clues were discussed in Wheelosphere before too. But in our previous posts we discussed  2011 Hyundai Accent with a set of semi-camouflaged images. But the case is different now we have got an undisguised image of upcoming  Hyundai Verna/Accent. For our Indian readers, we are  discussing about our Hyundai Verna. The company sells Verna in overseas market with Accent badge. 2011 Hyundai Verna as we discussed earlier   appears to be  a baby Hyundai Sonata YF Sedan.

The 2011 Hyundai Accent has been snapped from Korea’s Incheon International Airport during commercial shoot. Sonata YF Sedan and 2011 Accent/Verna shares same curvatures  more specifically “Fluidic Sculpture” design scheme. Other noticeable changes in upcoming Verna are steep windshield angle, well stretched headlamps, neatly designed front grille with chrome garnish. The boot deck is very short but the trimming exercise has been executed neatly. The side profile is trendy and features a sharp line parallel to belt line.

Under the hood Hyundai will plant their new GDI Theta II series engine. Along with their current engine line up. The GDI Theta II produces from 7-12 percent more torque across its rev range than the port-injected version of the same engine while efficiency is up 10%.The Theta II also gets continuously variable valve timing on both camshafts to round out its high tech upgrades. So overall package of 2011 Hyundai Accent/Verna will be worth watching for. We believe the wait will not be so long.

In India Hyundai Verna is a non-performer in sedan segment though it got a powerful yet fuel efficient engine. We believe Hyundai India should seriously consider replacing existing Verna with this all new Fluidic Sculptured Verna. Will Hyundai act to our expectations? Only time can answer. If you would like to know more about the development journey of 2011 Hyundai Accent/Verna stay tuned to Wheelosphere.

Now there is a twist to  this story. Some reports suggest that the above image could be of Hyundai’s upcoming Elantra MD. We too believe this report is genuine watch some spy images of upcoming Hyundai Elantra MD and tell us your opinion.

this is more likely the sonata. I saw the latest sonata y’day in US and this is what it looks like. unless Hyundai has adapted the sonata look as the family look.

The pic is definitely strikingly similar to the sonata.

      Avinash,
Even we were thinking so. But there are some difference between Sonata and Elantra. Here goes our list,
      1. Look at the grille. Sonata’s grille got three horizontal elements but Elantra got only two.
      2. The lines on bonnet hood is sharper in Sonata than Elantra.
      3. The headlamp profile of Elantra is different than Sonata. In Elantra there is a small sharp corner along with fender.
      4. The belt line of Sonata is clearly visible but in Elantra it is not that prompt.
      5. The D-Pillar of Elantra is almost merged with trunk but it is not the case in Sonata.
We tried to list down some of the major difference. Next time while you see a Sonata just check these features.
Thanks for the comment. Do comeback with your feedback.

Please refer this post for a quicker view of Sonata YF

    Dear Admin,

Sorry to inform you that you are mistaken. The pic above is NOT the new Elantra but the new Accent.

    Cheers.

      Dear Ricky,
Thanks for your comment, Hyundai has made our job very difficult. By the way in the article we said the above picture is of 2011 Hyundai Verna/Accent. But at end of the article we added another version. Now we think we should reserve our comments for some time atleast and wait for Hyundai’s official launch.
