2011 Suzuki Swift bares its back in Hungary

Suzuki needs to disguise their cars better next time as the next-generation Swift has been caught while on transit in Hungary, which is Suzuki’s European production base. Not to be mistaken for the present generation model, a closer look reveals the facts. While the overall shape remains the same, the rear has some subtle changes in the form of a new rear bumper that sports a high-mounted license plate. The hatch handle in now gone, replaced by the license plate recess. The rear lights are swept forward while the clear lenses remind us of the ones on the Nissan 370Z. The rear design now reveals a smiling face that is common on Tata models. There are subtle details like a newer font for the Swift badge and the same windshield and wiper carried over from the present model.

Suzuki’s Hungarian plant in the town of Esztergom, about 60 km north of Budapest will take care of the European production of the Swift while the Indian production is expected to start in early 2011. It is expected to be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in October but the online unveiling could happen much sooner. The new Swift will come with a new range of engines, possibly VW’s diesel engines too. A hybrid will join the lineup at a later date. Have a closer look at the pictures and stay tuned to Wheelosphere for mode updates.
