Audi unveils facelifted A4 in Europe

A4, the entry level sedan offering from Audi has got a midlife facelift in Europe. The current Audi A4 is in the market since 2008 and Audi has revised their A4 family to make more competitive in the segment. New Audi A4 comes with some external and internal changes. Audi has managed to offer many engine variants in 2012 A4. The exterior changes include a revised headlight pair, a new bonnet with more sharp lines, new bumper with trapezoidal fog lamps and a slightly modified front grille.

There is an interesting exterior design feature in 2012 Audi A4. A spectator can easily differentiate a four cylinder powered A4 and a six cylinder engine powered A4 by looking at grille. The 2012 Audi A4 which sports a grille painted in gray will fall in first category while the black one will fall in the second category.

In the rear Audi engineers have spend sufficient time to facelift and match t with front portion. The tail lamps now come with LED graphics and new rear bumper houses newly designed chrome exhaust pipes.

New Audi A4’s cockpit is new and will give more upmarket feeling. There are less no of buttons and controls in new A4.

The engine department gets lots of changes that customers looking for. Audi’s successful 2.0 litre four cylinder TDI now comes with a pendulum-type absorber, which allows the driver to cruise under 1000 revs without much shakes and vibrations. This engine has been tuned to deliver five power output options (118bhp, 134bhp, 141bhp, 161bhp and 175bhp). In diesel variant a 3.0ltr TDI engine is also on offer, the same engine is available in both 204bhp and 245bhp power options.

The gasoline engine powered 2012 Audi A4 will have two 1.8ltr engines, a 1.8 litre 4 Cylinder TFSI and 1.8 litre 4 Cylinder regular engine. While the first engine develops 170bhp, the second engine develops only 118bhp.

In the transmission side, Audi’s new A4 comes with a six-speed manual box on all Front Wheel Drive models as standard. There is also Audi Multitronic box or a seven-speed dual clutch S-Tronic auto also on offer in some variants.

Audi has revamped complete A4 family which include Audi A4, A4 Estate, S4, S4 Estate and the 4WD Audi A4 Allroad Quattro.

In India Audi A4 is doing a good job in the entry level luxury sedan segment.
