2012 Fiat Palio rendered; Indian re-launch with a new name?

Fiat’s design images of the Palio (codename : Project 326) leaked online few months back and based on those, here are the closest renderings as to how the real deal might look when it arrives in 2012. The new Palio will be a thorough redesign right from the platform to exteriors, interiors and powertrains. A mule of the new Palio has been spied testing near Fiat’s Betim plant.

Based on the new Uno’s platform, the new Palio will be slightly larger and sport styling cues borrowed from the upmarket Punto and Bravo. However, it will be smaller than the Punto and prices lower as well. The new Palio will be powered by tweaked engines from the 1.0L petrol to the 1.4 FIRE petrol and the 1.3 Multijet Diesel. Although there is no news on Fiat’s new Twinair engines, we can safely expect the latest generation two cylinder engines to make their way under the bonnet of the Palio shortly after its launch.

The Palio will first hit Brazil in May 2011 followed by Argentina in January 2012 and an Indian launch sometime in mid-2012. The Palio will come with a new name in India.
