The all new Porsche 911 unveiled to the media today. According to Porsche, the 2012 911 is the most revolutionary, efficient and sleeker machine ever built. The exteriors looks similar to outgoing model except a set of modified and LED studded headlights, improved front bumper and a Porsche 918 inspired tail lamps. The 2012 Porsche 911 will be powered by more efficient engines with the company of a seven speed manual transmission. The sloping style dashboard looks similar to Porsche Panamera.
The new Porsche 911 will be sharing steering and front suspension system with upcoming Boxter and Cayman duo. Porsche has kept rear suspension set up unchanged. Extensive usage of light weight materials (aluminium) made 2012 Porsche 911 lighter by approximately 45Kg.
Though there is no official words on the dimensions, source say that the new 911 is 56mm longer, 65mm wider and 11mm lower than its predecessor at 4491mm in length, 1873mm in width and 1299mm in height. The wheel base have been extended by 100 mms which will give better handling characteristics for improved 911.
The new Porsche 911 may get a downsized engine with capacity of 3.4 litres. The outgoing model was powered by a 3.6 liters power plant. But the new 911 engine will deliver 345bhp at 6400rpm which is more by 4bhp compared to the current 3.6 ltrs engine.
New Porsche 911 will have Active Chassis Control (PACC) and Active Suspension Management (PASM) options. The former will ensure lesser body roll during cornering while the latter will provide various suspension modes by controlling the dampers.
2012 Porsche 911 will make it’s official debut during upcoming Frankfurt motor show. European markets may receive updated 911 by end of this year. Though there is no official word from Porsche, we expect to see the new 911 in India by end of 2012. Stay tuned for more updates.
