This is the first image of 2012 Yamaha YZF R1 midlife facelift leaked to internet ahead of the official launch. The current Yamaha R1 was launched in 2009 and in the 2012 version also Yamaha has kept major design aspects of the model intact. Yamaha R1 will continue with it’s 998cc inline four-cylinder engine but a major change is presence of the new six-way adjustable traction control system (TCS). The new TCS will be standard across all variant of 2012 Yamaha R1.
Other notable changes in the new Yamaha R1 are revised front lights and lower fairing, remapped ECU for smoother power delivery and a boost to low and mid-range power. New design front lights with LED, all new exhaust heat shield and end tips and MotoGP inspired top yoke are other changes worth mentioning.
Though there are many (minor) changes in the new R1, Yamaha managed to keep the essence of the current model.In two years down the line, Yamaha will give a major update to this model.
