Cars come with petrol and diesel engines. Moreover, some own more than one car with different types of engines and modern diesel engines are so refined that it is difficult to distinguish them from their petrol counterparts. Add to that the fact that fuel station attendants cater to hundreds of cars in a single day. So, there is a high possibility of wrong fueling and expensive damage to your car. This is a big problem with car owners worldwide. To make fueling an enjoyable task, Audi has developed a new fuel filler cap that prevents petrol cars from being fueled with diesel and vice-versa.
They have developed a new type of fuel filler neck where it incorporates contact points that open an internal fuel flap only when the larger diesel pump nozzle applies pressure on them. Petrol nozzles, that are relatively stronger do not make contact with the points thereby ensuring wrong fueling.
Audi A4, A5 and Q5 TDI models from 2011 will gain this useful feature. Expect the same in India too.
