Audi E1 car program is on fast track. When most of their competitors are already way ahead of this premium small car segment now Audi wants to contribute from their cache. The answer comes out is Audi E1.
Audi plans this city car as part of their ecological car program and this car expected to be on parent company’s up! platform. This is a small fuel sipper city car like Fiat 500.The power plant will consists of a 600cc twin cylinder turbo charged engine. The denomination may be either diesel or petrol, this is yet to be confirmed from Audi.
In short the E1 from Audi is less powered than Tata Nano.Audi expects the underpowered E1 can tap the city car potential which now ruled by Smart and Ford Ka.E1 for sure will deliver great mileage figures as it uses a relatively small engine. Also the carbon emission is expected to be less when comparing to other models. The higher fuel efficiency and lower carbon foot print will yield good tax benefits for E1.
E1 600cc also going to have a big brother,E1 1.2 ltr. This variant can fulfil the purpose of a stylish small car for an upper class car buyer. But the timeline of Audi E1 looks bit stretched as it may not hit roads before 2011.So VW up! will precede E1.Stay tuned for further updates.
