Audi India launches Cheaper Q5 ahead BMW X3 launch

The competition in Indian premium SUV segment turns interesting. Today German luxury car manufacturer, Audi launched Q5 with lowered price tag. A new Audi Q5 variant  is now available in our market  priced at Rs 35.13 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The latest Audi Q5 variant is called Audi Q5 Business Edition. The new Q5 is powered by a  2.0-liter diesel engine which produces 170 hp of power and 350 Nm of torque at 1750 RPM. The diesel motor is mated to a 7-speed automatic S tronic gearbox and comes with an ARAI certified mileage of 12.8 kmpl.

“The Audi Q5 2.0 TDI q is perfectly equipped to further strengthen our leadership position in the luxury SUV segment. As the Audi Q5 already has a broad fan base in India, this attractive price will now make this premium experience accessible to a wider customer base who aspire to own a luxury SUV endorsed by our ‘Vorsprung durch Technik’ philosophy. The Audi Q5 2.0 TDI q powered by a dynamic and efficient engine is also equipped with best in-class interior and infotainment features,” Michael Perschke, Head – Audi India, said.

This new Audi Q5 variant will be rolling out from company’s Aurangabad plant and will be assembled from CKD kits. Other major inclusions in the Business Edition Q5 are LED daytime running lights, Xenon plus headlights, 17″ alloy wheels, rear parking sensors, leather interiors with wood inserts, Audi Media Interface and a multifunctional 4-spoke leather steering wheel.

“With the opportunity that India presents, we are confident of achieving our retail sales target of 5,000 cars by the end of 2011,” Perschke said. “Our focus is on strengthening our portfolio through the introduction of products like the Audi Q5 2.0 TDI q which are extremely relevant for India and also the expansion of our dealer network,” he continued.

Audi Q5 is currently  available  in Indian with a price tag between Rs 39.06 lakh and Rs 45.12 lakh (ex-showroom, Maharashtra). The Business Edition Audi Q5 will be available in dealerships by October 2011. Audi’s arch rival BMW is all set to launch their all new X3 in India later this week. So is it Audi’s effort to spoil Bavarian major’s party..?
