The Germans are back with tough competition. Audi launched the R8 Spyder in India yesterday! Finally we have all 3 variants of Audi R8 here in India. The car came up first in the movie Iron-Man 2 in 2008. Globally sales began in 2009 and now we too have it! The soft-top beauty comes with the same 5.2L V10 engine producing whooping 518bhp power! This is the same engine that Audi R8 V10 has, the one sourced from Lamborghini! The top fabric weighs just about 30kg and opens and closes in just 19 seconds at speeds up to 50km/h. This super-sport is priced very high, at Rs 1.47lacs ex-showroom Maharashtra and comes as a CBU from Germany. R8 Spyder has got good response in India, 3 bookings are already there with Audi on the 1st day itself.
How can BMW be back? BMW also launched its Grand-Tourer 2011 6-series yesterday in India. The 2011 6-series has got a bold elegant look. It has a Shark-Like grille just like the Z4. This is the best Gran-Turismo ever you can say. The car looks pretty based on 5-Series. 8-speed Automatic gearbox is standard.This gorgeous beast is powered by 4.4L V8 engine which churns out 407bhp but still is efficient enough to deliver 11.05km/l! It does 0-100km/h in just 5 seonds! This gorgeous 6-series is priced at Rs 95lacs(Soft-Top Convertible). Its flat 50 lacs lesser than R8 Spyder.
With the launch of this latest machine, Audi India’s line up became more diversified. Audi’s India line up includes, A4, A6 and A8 sedans, Q5 and Q7 SUVs and R8 and R8 Spyder.
Audi R8 Spyder will feature Bang & Olufsen sound system, LED headlights, space frame technology, permanent all wheel drive, six-speed sequential transmission, Launch Control, heated seats and pigmented leather seat covers.
