TVS Motors finally launched its Auto-clutch bike Jive in North India today. TVS is targeting sales of 20,000 units in the region. Speaking at the launch of the Jive in Jaipur, TVS Motor Company General Manager (Sales) S Ram Mohan told reporters the Jive is set to transform the definition of city commuting with convenience being the focus. “We will follow this launch by entering the market of Uttar Pradesh. Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh are very important markets for us. This new motorcycle will fuel our growth in North India. We expect to sell 15,000-20,000 units per month in these territories,”.
TVS aims to sell 100,000 units in Rajasthan in the next fiscal year. “We have sold 65,000 units this year. With this launch and aggressive marketing we expect to touch the 1-lakh figure by March 2011,” he said.
The Jive’s auto-clutch does not reduce fuel efficiency and manages 55-60 km/l. Moreover, the experience of hassle free motoring in the cities is just heaven for motorists, especially in bumper to bumper traffic. The Jive also gets a lockable under-seat storage bay. The Jive also features anti-knocking mechanism that makes smooth riding possible even at lower speeds in higher gears without the engins shutting off.
“It is propelled by a 110 cc engine, which features innovative T-Matic technology with a rotary gear coupled with an automatic clutch. One of the major features of this motorcycle is the absence of the clutch lever, making riding a hands-free gear shift experience,” he said.
TVS Jive is priced at Rs 46,500 Ex-Showroom for the self-start version.
