Chevrolet Cruze has won the “Excellent value for money’” award at the ‘Autobest 2010’ awards. The car has been on sale in India since September and the sales figures have been very encouraging. The challenge now lies in maintaining the sales figures. Chevrolet needs to make sure the don’t lose the plot like Hyundai did with the Elantra.
The award was conferred by a jury made up of senior and highly experienced journalists from Central and Eastern Europe. The Chevrolet Cruze defended its position against the likes of the Hyundai i20, Skoda Yeti and the Volkswagen Polo. Its a formidable victory for GM and will help GM develop a new range of vehicles.
The jury evaluated the competitors based on these factors : design criteria, specifications, transmission, fuel consumption, environmental impact and in relation to the interior space. President of Autobest, Ilja Seliktar explained that the trademark Chevy bowtie stood over the competition “for its excellent quality-price.”
For his part, President and CEO of Chevrolet Europe, Wayne Brannon, said that sales of this model in Europe have overtaken “by far” forecast “optimistic” for the company. “The car is everything we expect from a Chevrolet in terms of value,” he said. What’s more, we many more awards from India’s leading automobile magazines for the Cruze.
