Bajaj-KTM performance bikes are expected to hit Indian market by first half of next fiscal. Definitely a good news for those who are in waiting mode but the bad news follows, Bajaj-KTM sports bikes will not be that cheap. Here they will be priced well above Rs. One lac. India’s no.2 two wheeler manufacturer in association with KTM developed an array of sports bikes with engine capacity of 125cc and above after spending nearly two years. These range of newly developed performance bikes will be initially launched in European markets then our market will receive them.
“Whatever product will be out in the market will be at a very significant premium as against brands like the Pulsar. Else, what is the use of bringing such a product?” said Rajiv Bajaj, managing director, Bajaj Auto. Bajaj-KTM is planning to roll out the Indian version of these performance bike from their Chakan Plant near Pune. Bajaj is primarily planning to tap bike crazy young generation in India and abroad. Naturally they will be designed to impress this category.
The combination of Bajaj and KTM may prove lethal to competitors, Bajaj Auto is enjoying their success by leveraging their ability to manufacture products at minimum cost. KTM, Europe’s largest performance bike manufacturer has got great product engineering skills. That means, Bajaj Auto will be able to bring KTM engineered products and making them a reality at economical price.
If the news is true, Bajaj-KTM sports bikes will become the costliest 125cc bikes in our market. Bajaj’s hot selling Pulsar 220cc coming with a price tag of Rs.70,000. We agree the fact that KTM bikes are superbly engineered products, but can they attract our youth? Do let us know your opinion through the comment form.
