Bajaj Auto, under immense pressure after its slide in sales, is now back to its gaining ways. Bajaj Auto’s sales stood at 233,049 units compared to 110,363 units in the same period last year. Add Bajaj’s 3 wheelers and the figure jumps to 266,018 compared to 132,348 units sold in the same period last year. Exports were up by 32.70 per cent to 71,695 units in January from 54,027 units a year ago.
Moreover, Bajaj’s 2 wheeler sales saw a massive jump to 232,939 units in January 2010 compared to 109,666 units in same period last year. Bajaj sold 71,970 Pulsars and 92,035 Discover 100cc bikes. Bajaj has garnered 70% of its sales from these two brand of bikes. The Pulsar 135 won the Bike of the year award from Autocar India.
This has raised Bajaj’s market share from 21% in Jan 2009 to 32% in Jan 2010. The company reported a rise of 49.96 per cent in its three-wheeler sales during January at 32,969 units, as compared to 21,985 units during the same month last year. Bajaj also said that its commercial vehicle sales continued to grow across various segments but did not give details
