British Luxury car manufacturer Bentley launched its all new Mulsanne on Saturday. It will hit the Indian market in October with prices starting from Rs 2.9 crore Rupees. Mulsanne replaces the ageing Arnage and competes against the famed Rolls Royce Phantom. The Mulsanne is named after a famous corner in the Circuit De La Sarthe in France where the world famous Le Mans 24 hour races are held. The Mulsanne is infinitely customisable and comes with a 6.8L Twin-Turbocharged V8 that develops 512bhp and so much torque (1020 Nm) that it can rotate the Earth the other way around.
“We have debuted this car in the Indian market for Bentley car connoisseurs. India has a very strong and vibrant economy. We are very hopeful about the future prospects of our business here,” said Chris Buxton, regional director, Bentley (India, Middle-East and Africa). Buxton also added that it takes almost 650 hours to build super-luxury Mulsanne and most of the car is handmade.
Bentley has already unveiled this model in the global market. “US is our biggest market. We have already unveiled our new model there and in Europe. After here, we will unveil it in few more Asian countries, including China.” Bentley sold over 5000 cars globally last year. “Our sales in India is between 25 and 30 cars only. But there is a huge potential and we expect our sales to go-up,” he said. The China market, he added, is almost 10 times bigger for Bentley than India.
