A BMW source has confirmed that BMW’s Grancoupe will wear the 6-Series badge and will make it to production in the second quarter of 2012. Slated to compete with the likes of Mercedes CLS, Audi A7, Porsche Panamera, Maserati Quattroporte and the lot, the Grancoupe will be a GT and a sports car fused into one. Although based on the 7-Series platform, it is 5 metres long and 100mm lower than the 7-Series. It will arrive with the same mix of 6 and 8 cylinder engines with an eight speed automatic as standard. BMW has not disappointed fans of the Concept CS as the Grancoupe takes off where the concept CS left.
Expect similar styling to percolate down to most BMW models of the future like the long wheelbase, vaulted bonnet, rearward set glasshouse, low silhouette, short front overhang and sash-less doors.
