BMW confirms development of X4

BMW Group CEO Norbert Reithofer confirmed the arrival of an all new vehicle bridging the gap between X3 and X5. The BMW X4 is currently in the development stage and will go into production by 2014. The X4 will be a continuation of BMW X3 in terms of it’s styling. The initial reports suggest that  Bavarian auto major is planning to bring a Sport Utility Coupe(SUC). This means BMW X4  SUC will have a mixture of  characters of an SUV and a practicality of a coupe.

The  speculated dimensions of the X4 is 4.65 meters long  with a luggage of 500 liters. BMW may plant current X3 engines in the X4 as well. This means the xDrive20d with 184 hp diesel motor and   xDrive28i petrol engine may find their place under BMW X4’s hood.

Meanwhile BMW arch rival Mercedes-Benz also reportedly start their work on an all new vehicle to counter BMW X4.
