As a result of the implementation of Bharat Stage-4 standards, 13 metros will bid farewell to a lot of cars. The obvious ones are the ageing warrior Maruti 800, Chevrolet Tavera, Skoda Octavia, Indicabs, Sumo, Bolero (non CRDe), Indica Xeta (not confirmed) and many more. We are not ready with the complete list but get back in the next week and we should have one for you.
The shock however is the Skoda Fabia 1.2HT Petrol which will be discontinued and only the diesel version will be sold for the time being. Fabia will get the Polo’s 1.2L petrol engine along with a facelift later in the year. Another casualty from Skoda is the Octavia which will be discontinued only in the metros. The Octavia will be replaced by Skoda’s own model based on the Polo sedan. Chevrolet’s Tavera will also bow out of the metros after a long stint. The 13 metros will witness newer cleaner cars.
