New Dio will run a pair of  tubeless tires. The styling of the facelifted Dio looks very fresh now. The tail lamp and headlight cluster concept are new in our market. The Dio now sports a 3D emblem as well. New Honda Dio  is available in five colours – sports red, matt axis grey, pearl sunbeam white, candy palm green and leblon violet.

We cannot deny that we were sorely disappointed Bajaj when stopped producing the older P 200. Only now, more than a year later we know what ball game Bajaj has been at. And what a product the Pulsar is… slashes and cuts all over speak of an aggressive and hypermacho design that is way ahead of its competitors. The price of base variant new TVS Star City is Rs 38,650 (ex-showroom New Delhi). Star City now comes with  Econometer, to help the rider to get maximum fuel economy. The meter will indicate the correct economy zone so that rider can gain best possible fuel economy.

“This new motorcycle is a winning combination of executive class features and vibrant styling. The backing of high fuel efficiency and toughness will make TVS StaR City a much sought after motorcycle,” said H S Goindi, President-Marketing, TVS Motor Company.

Gold Spark, Red Blaze, Bold Blue, Electric Green, Crimson Flash and Silver Strike are the paint options available. In addition to the above said changes, TVS Star City now comes with a set of clear lens turn indicators and black alloy wheels. With all these changes, the bike look more attractive now. Company claims the new Star City will have better ride and comfort characteristics.

In the commuter segment, TVS Star City is yet to make a breakthrough. While it’s competition, Honda CB Twister, Bajaj Platina and Hero Motocorp Splendour are still enjoying their lead in the segment. “The launch of ‘Duke’ is one of the many steps in our association with KTM over the last five years. Between Bajaj Pulsar and KTM ‘Duke’ we intend to further strengthen our position in sports motorcycle segment in India,” said Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director- Bajaj Auto Limited.

KTM Duke 200, as it’s name suggest is powered by a 200cc four stroke engine which develops 25hp maximum power @ 10,000rpm and 19.2Nm of maximum torque at 8,000rpm. The engine  is mated to a 6 speed gearbox. The kerb weight of  KTM Duke 200 is just  126 kilogram that means the bike comes with excellent power to weight ratio.

Bajaj Auto has set up 32 exclusive showrooms to sell  KTM range of bikes. Company has already converted their probiking showrooms to Ready to Race showrooms. The same showrooms will sell Kawasaki range of bikes as well. Bajaj Auto has also set up 40 service centres exclusively  for KTM bikes. Bajaj is planning to bring one new model to India every year. Probably KTM Duke 350 could be next big launch in our market.

As we said earlier, KTM Duke 200 price looks very attractive. A good level of localization might have helped  Bajaj Auto to keep the price under tab. Probably a very good lesson for manufacturers like Honda, Yamaha and  Suzuki.

Suzuki Swish’s  124cc, four-stroke single-cylinder engine derives 8.58bhp at 7000rpm and a max torque of 1kgm at 5000rpm. Swish comes with automatic transmission similar to Honda Activa. Suzuki Swish runs on a set of 10” front and rear wheels with drum brakes. While front is supported by a telescopic suspension system, the rear gets a conventional hydraulic shock absorber. Company aims to attract more youth towards Swish.

Suzuki Motorcycles is in the process of strengthening their dealership network and increasing production capacity.

“We have already invested Rs 400 crore. The total investment which is going into the new products and capacity expansion is about Rs 100 crore,” said Atul Gupta, Sr V.P, Sales and Marketing, Suzuki Motorcycles India Pvt Limited.
