Don’t try this in a pickup truck

June 20th, 2010

Oops! What went wrong there?

The common notion is that heavy and large vehicles 1-are safe and 2-cannot topple over. We hope many change their view after looking at this picture. We have seen many Scorpio and Sumo drivers (did we forget the Omni?) exhibit rash driving and this picture should teach them a lesson. Under adverse conditions, these ladder frame vehicles exhibit a top heavy behaviour that could end the vehicle upside down.

The contributing factors are a high centre of gravity, poor brakes, the driver himself and most importantly, the suspension that is mounted well below the C of G. Combined with lack of any safety features at all (in India), a disaster is impending. Hope this sends across the right message to all drivers to be safer in the future.

PS-We are still waiting to hear from the Hilux’s driver.

The new design has three different shapes for quick identification

This is a really nice invention aimed at making signals friendlier to the colour blind. Instead of having all the three lights in circular shape, the red light is now a triangle while the amber and green are circular and square respectively. Called the  Uni-Signal, the move is aimed at those having a hard time comprehending the correct signal. Click on any of the images to see the new design for yourself.
