Chevrolet ‘Beats’ competition with 10,000 bookings in just 24 days after launch

GM’s Chevrolet Beat has instantly achieved the ‘Hit’ status. Chevrolet reported over 10,000 confirmed bookings for the car in 24 days of its launch. The whole automobile industry has stood up and taken notice of this mean machine. Beat is now the industry benchmark. All the upcoming hatchbacks will have to toil very hard to ‘Beat’ (exist). The in-your-face looks, performance and more importantly the price has exceeded everybody’s expectations.

This is Chevrolet Beat’s way of telling all the upcoming cars – Polo, Figo, Micra, Etios and 2CV – Dont mess around with me. Lets see how many of the new cars can match the record set by the Beat.

Add to the package Chevrolet’s excellent 3 years/1,00,000Km warranty and you have one of the most reliable car in your hands. Chevrolet will launch the Beat in 150 countries worldwide including Europe, North America in the next few days. Codenamed the M300, the Beat is based on GM’s global mini-vehicle architecture and took GM’s engineers 27 months to develop the Beat. The engine is commendable too. It gets a state of the art S-tec II DOHC engine with 4 cylinders and 1199cc delivering best in-class mileage of 18.6km/l (A-star does 19.6km/l GM). One of the new technologies used on the engine is PDA (Port De-Activation) system that ensures high exhaust gas recirculation, resulting in combustion stability at low speeds and optimal performance at high speeds together with improved fuel efficiency. In addition, the PDA system contributes to a reduction in emissions, making the Beat a truly eco-friendly vehicle.

The Beat comes feature rich too with an array of premium features like Automatic climate control, Integrated audio system with USB and Aux-in port, tilt steering, steering mounted Instrument console with digital tachometer, 60:40 split folding seats, tubeless tyres and silver finish roof rails on the top model.

Commenting on this impressive performance, Mr. P Balendran, Vice-President, GM India said, “Introduction of two best-in-segment cars from the 300 series, increase in customer outreach through distribution network, our unique value proposition like Chevrolet Cashless Ownership offer on Spark and our promise to deliver quality, performance and safety are the factors that have led to this month-by-month escalating growth rates. This consistent sales growth shows the customer belief and confidence in Chevrolet.” He added, “We are pleased to see such robust growth for all our car lines and we believe these world class products will further propel the Chevrolet brand in the market. The response to our latest offerings from the 300 series, the Cruze and the Beat, has been overwhelming and we are certain that these will further provide an impetus to Chevrolet’s growth in the Indian market”, he added.

Looks like GM is going from strength to strength with its launches from the Cruze to the Beat to the upcoming E-spark. Bring in the next gen Aveo too GM and you will be fighting for the number1 spot again.
