Chevrolet Reva Electric Spark

Chevrolet Spark Eletric was expected to hit Indian roads by this year. Chevrolet India and Reva Electric Car Company joint venture successfully  developed   Chevrolet Spark’s electric version called e-spark. We hope our readers might be remembering our last report about  the development story of electric Spark. Now with display of Chevrolet e-Spark on New Delhi Auto Expo 2010, it quiet sure that Chevrolet-Reva association is in synergy and  e-Spark will be launched as announced, i.e October-2010.

e-Spark From Chevrolet

The e-Spark is similar to fossil fuel version of Spark in body style and construction except minor tweaks. Chevrolet took this opportunity to implant their signature front grille on Spark too. The headlamps looks bit bigger than Spark, similarly the fog lamps as well. The rectangular fog lamps reminds about Chevrolet Volt. The tail lamps are of clear lens and look neat. The tail gate is painted in black colour and it adds the visual appeal.

Chevrolet calls e-Spark, a perfect Battery Electric Vehicle(BEV) and will be built on Spark platform with Reva electric motor and other hardware. e-Spark will be 100% powered by electric motor with sufficient battery cache. So obviously we can expect top class acceleration and torque performance.

What is more! Chevrolet e-Spark will be coming with Regenerative Braking System. This system will facilitate recharging of battery cells during braking so that energy waste due to hard braking will be minimised. Other than these major features, all other essentials like driver display, remote diagnosis systems are also part of the offering. Now the real road block for e-Spark could be poor infrastructure like recharging stations, availability of trained mechanics for service and repair. Though latter can be set up within months, setting up recharge stations will be a herculean task.

So wait and watch how Chevrolet and Reva Electric Car Company facing this task. Be with us for updates on e-Spark.
