Logan by Mahindra Renault is a familiar name for an Indian auto spectator.Logan is rechristened as Dacia Logan in Romania.Logan in India is an under performer in it’s category. But we insists Logan is a value for money car irrespective of it’s looks and design, even hours before writing his post one of our avid reader shared his ownership experience with us.
Logan’s story in Europe is not same as in India, it is doing moderately well in Europe. The reason is obvious Dacia Logan has been counted as one of the best economy car in Europe too.Renault today introduced a low capacity Dacia Logan in Romania.Dacia Logan is available in many engine configuration from 1.0 ltr to 1.6ltr both Diesel and Petrol engine except a 1.2ltr variant. The latest launch filled the vacuum in 1.2ltr variant.
Renault Logan and Sandero now available with 1.2ltr engine. Both models are powered by same 1149CC engine that can deliver 70BHP at 5000rpm.These 1.2ltr, 16Valve Logan and Sandero can easily deliver maximum torque of 107Nm at 4250rpm. The expected fuel economy is 16.9Km/Ltr which could be an outstanding figure in Logan’s segment.
Mahindra Renault Logan is available 1.4 and 1.5ltr engine variants in India.Logan failed to impress Indian customers, the reasons of Mahindra Logan’s failure may be multiple,a group label Renault Logan’s design is too boxy and another describes at Logan’s price one can enjoy a much better mid-size car.Currently Mahindra is bringing Renault Logan in CKD form, that makes Logan price tag heavier than it’s competitors.
Renault is trying it’s level best to score numbers by tweaking with engine capacities. Can we expect this low powered engine variant in India too? or will you be interested to see this 1.2ltr Logan in India..?

Very interesting. But wouldnt it suck to have a 1.2 engine in this car? The price would definitely become attractive to make the ugly car attractive to buyers.
Any idea when the facelift of the Logan will happen ?
Posted by Sushil | June 23, 2009, 12:37 pmDear Sushil,
Even we too feel the 1.2ltr engine will be too less for this big car.But now companies are in survival mode especially in Europe. That could be one reason behind this.
Logan Facelift was in the cards till end of 2008,but now the project got shelved due to non-performance of Logan and bad financial of Renault. Now we don’t know when Logan will get a facelift.
