Ferrari announces future plans; Six new models by 2013

Ferrari has revealed their future plans and the direction the company will take in the next three years. The plans are a part of Fiat’s restructuring plans that were announced today. The  list includes a 458 Spider, hardcore 458 (Scuderia), repalcement for the 612, 599 and a replacement for the Enzo, a new hypercar.

The first car to see the light will be the 458 Spider that is due out in 2011. The gorgeous 458 will go topless in a bid to increase its appeal and excitement quotient. The same year will see the launch of an all new range topping Ferrari cruiser, the four seat V12 powered 612. Codenamed F151, it might even include a hybrid variant.

Ferrari maintained the Enzo’s exclusivity by producing just 349 units between 2002 and 2004 (or as Ferrari say, one less than the market demands) and its replacement (codenamed F152) will likely sport a V12 like its predecessor (if it does, it could be the last of the naturally aspirated Ferraris) and borrow all the latest tech from its F1 car. Crucially, the new hypercar will come in 2012.

Following the launch of the hypercar, 2013 will see a major facelift for its California hardtop, which is currently referred to as the California M. The final new model in the plan is the hardcore 458 Italia, a predecessor to the F430 Scuderia Track day special in 2013.

Ferrari will maintain a line of difference between its sports cars and grand tourers ensuring that there wont be any clash between the 458 and 599 supercars and the 612 and California cruisers. Putting several rumours about a possible baby Ferrari Dino, Ferrari confirmed that they will have no more than four standard production models meaning the 458 Italia, 599GTB FIorano, 612 Scaglietti and California will form the standard range while the hypercar Enzo is a special model and will be made in limited numbers.
