Fiat Grande Punto is a not a hit but a super hit in Europe. In India too Grande Punto is slowly picking up momentum since it’s launch, now Fiat is planning to bring a sportier version of this successful hatchback. Here is the first image so called Fiat Grande Punto Abarth version, the latest version of Grande Punto is Punto Evo, and for sure Fiat will consider the latest model Punto Evo for making performance version.
Fiat will power Punto Evo Abarth with engine from Alfa Romeo MiTo Quadrofoglio Verde. This 170-hp, 1.4 liters Multiair turbo engine can clock 210km/hr with ease and 0-100km/hr can be achieved in less than 7.7 seconds. The performance of Punto Abarth can be further enhanced with engine tuning kits from Esses. Esses kit can add another 30hp to Abarth Grande Punto so the final output will reach 200hp. The expected top speed of this tuned Punto Evo Abarth version is 220km/hr.
The powerful engine will be mated with a six speed manual gearbox. Fiat may bring the Grande Punto Abarth in Italy by next month and later other European markets will also receive Abarth Punto. With the launch of Punto Abarth Fiat will be directly targeting Renault Clio RS which holds majority of performance hatchback car segment in Europe. Do you anticipate Abarth Grande Punto arrival in India too? most unlikely:-(
