Following Hyundai, Maruti Suzuki, Ford and Nissan, Fiat is the latest manufacturer to announce that it will export cars to SAARC countries from India. Do note down that Fiat started exports last year and has so far exported over 2,000 units including 1,000 Puntos, 360 Lineas and 650 Palios. Fiat will expand its exports to Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
Fiat’s Marketing Head Tarun Khanna told
“We are looking to export our cars Palio, Linea and Punto in SAARC countries including Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh as these are right hand driving countries,”. “We began exporting last year. So far we have exported only to South Africa”.
He also added that Fiat India would roll out a more powerful variant of the Linea (That’s the Turbojet) later this year as well as the Punto CNG. Fiat is expecting to hit 40,000 units this year thanks to the Punto and Linea. Fiat currently sells 1000 units a month each of the Punto and Linea every month. The exports will help utilise the 2,00,000 capacity manufacturing and 3,00,000 capacity engine plant at Ranjangoan.
