Ford India’s Small Car On Fast Track

ford-logoWe earlier reported that Ford is pursuing small car plan. Now Ford India revised the plans and turned into fast track.Ford is planning to launch thier small car in 2011.The small car from Ford is expected to be on Verve platform.To make the launch happen on time Ford India is strengthening their work force as well.Ford India recruited 1000 odd personnel this year to put their small car dream a reality.

“We will be continuing with our strategy to enter the small car market by early 2010,This definitely is a period of slowdown and the double digit growth witnessed over the past few years will not be seen for at least a year” Michael Boneham, president and managing director of Ford India, said.

Ford India is focusing on it’s small car plans to score the numbers.The India small car segment rules 70% of total car market.So Ford does not want to (should not) be isolated from this segment.Ford is globally realigned their product strategy towards small and fuel efficient cars.
