Hero Motor Corp. to enter the quarter liter class.

Hero Motocorp to enter 250 cc segmentLast year in December, Hero and Honda decided to part ways for good. And according to the agreement signed between the two companies, Honda will provide technical support until 2014.

Hero’s  R&D, based in Gurgaon is now under a complete overhaul and has employed four major R&D experts from it’s ex-partner and current rival to develop a 250 cc bike for mid 2012 or so. With the Kawasaki Ninja and the recently launched CBR 250R, Hero’s new product will be a late entrant in its class and will face major competition.

After the split Hero has tapped a lot of benefit from its ten-year technical tie up with Honda. For example, there is the Hero Impulse based on the Honda NXR 150. Also, there is the Hero Maestro that is reminiscent of the Honda Activa. We just hope that Hero’s new 250 cc bike will come as refreshing surprise next year.
