Ecological Drive Assist (EDA) system will be one of the main attraction of Insight,Honda’s first hybrid offering. EDA is a combination of three systems, all are intended to monitor and improve the fuel efficiency of the car.Probably this could be the first one of it’s kind.
The EDA technology uses Constant Variable Transmission(CVT) and engine, display module color tells you the instant speed and fuel economy. It is obvious that driving style plays the major role in deciding fuel economy.EDA monitors the driving style and correlating with the fuel economy, and in long run EDA gives the driver’s ‘score card’ in form a tree leaves. The dashboard picture of EDA enabled vehicle is shown below.
In short the features of EDA are as follows,
1.The ECON mode which uses the harmonization of CVT and Engine to maximise the fuel economy.
2.Real time fuel efficient driving display/guidance.
3.The scoring system, gives feedback to the driver.
4.Enhanced fuel economy analysis statistics.
So heard a lot about Honda’s new initiative to improve fuel economy? Now we have to wait till Insight’s launch in spring 2009.
