Its been months we’ve been waiting for Honda to launch its cheapest car in India, Brio! Honda has been testing the car for quite a few months here and now it looks like the car is all ready and set to arrive.
Honda has developed the Brio specially for emerging markets after conducting lots and lots of research of five years. The car has been developed specifically keeping in mind the local conditions and demand.
Brio will be having the same heart, the 1.2L petrol engine from Jazz. Honda has put-up the 1.2L i-Vtec engine churning out 90bhp power in Thailand, the same engine is expected in our market as well. That means Honda Brio will be the segment topper in terms of the engine power.
Honda has increased the localization to 76% in the 2011 Jazz here, and similarly the Brio will also be heavily localized to be cost-effective. Honda Brio will compete other segment competitors like, Ford Figo, Toyota Etios Liva, Hyundai i10, Nissan Micra, Chevrolet Beat, etc. Obviously it won’t be competing with the premium hatchbacks like, Volkswagen Polo, Maruti Suzuki Swift, Skoda Fabia, etc. Honda Brio will surely get the heat from the new Beat Diesel as Honda won’t be having a diesel heart for Brio. Looking at the pricing of the new Jazz, obviously Honda will be pricing the Brio below 5.5lacs, maybe between 4.25 to 5.25lacs.
Stay tuned to Wheelosphere for latest updates.

If you are a diesel car fan Hyundai i20 is the best option for you. Honda Jazz will win over the rest in terms of it’s refinement and safety aspects. If your city has a VW dealership you may check VW Polo as well. VW Polo petrol variants may have good discounts as well. Do come back and share your thoughts..
