Honda unveils 2011 CBR 250R; Headed to India in 2011

Honda has unveiled the CBR250R sports bike in Thailand. It is Honda Motor Thailand’s largest displacement motorcycle and Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India would also bear that tag once local production begins sometime in 2011. Sales in Thailand commence from November and the CBR250R will eventually make it to all of the ASEAN countries, Japan, Europe, North America and Australia. Designed and developed at Honda’s R&D centres in Japan and Thailand, the new CBR250R was created to let beginners and experienced riders feel the fun of maneuvering a motorcycle.

The new 250,a s the name suggests sports a 250cc 4-valve single cylinder liquid cooled engine with dual overhead camshafts producing a total of 32bhp (quoted power output). Thanks to fuel injection (PGM-FI) and an O2 sensor, it meets Euro 3 emission standards. The body features a lightweight and compact frame, diamond in shape with a truss like structure ensuring high rigidity. The fairing is optimised towards low drag and diverting air to cool the engine. It also features ABS and Combined Braking system (single lever applies both the front and rear brakes), a feature also found on the Activa scooter.

 

 

Honda India will start local production (or maybe just assembly) of the CBR to keep costs in check. The new CBR is expected to fall in the price range of Rs 1.5-2 lakhs.
