Honda CBR 250R to come with Rs.1.5lac price tag!!

Honda CBR 250R

Honda CBR 250R may come with Rs.1.5lac price tag. If media reports are to be believed this could be one of the most exciting news for Indian motorcycle enthusiasts. It seems Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India Pvt. Ltd (HMSI) has a very aggressive game plan for India. Recently  Honda Motor’s two wheeler arm declared that they will be exiting from one of the most successful joint-venture with Hero Group in India. This was one of the most successful JV ever formed in Indian automobile history.

Honda will bring CKD kits of  CBR250R to India from Thailand and assemble it at their Manesar plant. Honda CBR250R is expected to be priced at Rs.1.5lacs (Ex-Showroom New Delhi). If the base price remains to be the  same, Honda CBR250R on road price will be well below Rs.2.0lacs. “The bike will be priced at Rs 1.5 lakh (ex-showroom) in Delhi and a little more than that in Mumbai. It should hit showrooms in April,” said a Honda Motorcycles India executive.

Honda CBR250R’s opponent Kawasaki Ninja 250 comes at Rs.3.01lacs i.e nearly 1lac more than that of Honda CBR 250. So we need not to say Honda CBR 250R will make it’s Japanese counterpart’s existence in question. Bajaj Auto and Kawasaki Japan will have to overhaul their business strategy to stay afloat in sports bike segment.

But still we have  doubt about this price claim,  Honda has never shown such aggressiveness in pricing their products. Anyway we can keep our fingers crossed for official announcement which will come  early 2011.
