Hyundai’s answer to Maruti Suzuki Alto has been undisguised by Autocar India. The much awaited small car from Hyundai Motor India (Code Name:-HA) is expected to debut by second week of next month. The price of Hyundai Eon is expected to start from Rs.2.5 lakhs. Hyundai Eon comes with Hyundai’s latest ‘Fluidic’ deign characteristics which we saw in it’s siblings like Verna and i10. The styling of Eon looks very appealing especially the lights, the bulged out headlights are extending towards the A-Pillar and the tail lamps looks like first in class design language. There are lots of line and lines coming to elevate it’s appeal further.
Maruti Suzuki Alto, Maruti Suzuki A-Star and higher variants of Tata Nano are expected to feel the heat from this Korean little master. Eon will get a three cylinder power plant which derived from Hyundai Santro’s block. This 814cc engine is expected to return a fuel economy of 21.1Km/Ltr.
“There is no car that is comparable with Eon. Yes, it is an entry-level car but with no compromise. It is a very spacious car with a large boot – something that you get only in bigger cars. And most importantly it doesn’t compromise on style,” said Arvind Saxena, Hyundai India sales & marketing director.
“Eon is targeted at the first time buyer who is young, who has just started earning. It is also targeted at the young family that is looking for its first car,” he continued.
According to latest reports Hyundai has packed Eon with latest features like like keyless entry, driver air bags, front power windows, fog lamps, central locking, two-tone interiors. So if Hyundai manages to price Eon right Maruti Suzuki has to struggle a lot to keep their best seller afloat.
