Hyundai Eon, the Maruti Suzuki Alto killer’s teaser website is up ( Visit the site,Not much details are available on the site though). Hyundai’s dealers will start accepting bookings for Eon from tomorrow. But company will launch Eon two weeks later. The so called Alto slaughter, Hyundai Eon base variant is expected to have a price tag of Rs.2.5lakh (ex showroom New Delhi). Eon will be powered by Hyundai’s Epsilon series 814 cc 3 cylinder engine. Hyundai Eon may get both manual and auto transmission options.
Eon (Code Name:- H800) is developed by a joint team of their Korean and Indian research and development team. Hyundai’s best sellers (Santro and i10) are witnessing slow down in sales so for them Eon is a really important product.
“New car launches are determined on the basis of the long-term outlook on a market. Our outlook on the Indian market in the medium and long-term is very positive. We want to address the Indian customer with regular product launches,” Hyundai director (marketing & sales) Arvind Saxena said.
As we said earlier, Eon will have characteristics of Hyundai’s ‘Fluidic Sculpture’ design language. Though Hyundai is tight lipped about Eon’s design characteristics, we have already did two stories featuring Hyundai Eon with zero camouflage (Read them here and here). Hyundai India will manufacture Eon in their Chennai plant.
