Thanks to Overdrive, we are able to bring you exclusive pictures of the facelifted i10 much before its intended launch at the Paris Motor Show at the end of this month. The i10 facelift is Hyundai’s answer to the ever increasing competition in the hatchback segment. From the scoop images, it is clearly visible that Hyundai have gone ahead and given the i10 a family look that is now common on every model up to the new Sonata YF/i40. The now famous Hyundai hexagonal grille along with sharply swept back headlamps give the i10 a bold and aggressive face. However, we feel that the new i10 has taken a step closer to the Chevrolet Beat by being over-aggressive and this design, doesn’t get along fluently with the rest of the body. It looks like its got a heavy face. Maybe the images don’t do justice but we reserve judgment till we see the real deal.

Hyundai i10 eats 19.81km of road for every litre of petrol May 2010
There are similar changes to the rear bumper and tail lamps, but nothing considerable compared to the front end. The big news however, will be the introduction of an updated engine that will now sport VTVT (Variable Timing Valvetrain) which will help the i10 comply with stricter emission norms while being more fuel efficient. Hyundai aims to slot the i10 into a lower tax band in Europe where vehicles are taxed based on their tailpipe emissions. Hyundai even claim that it will be the most advanced 1.2 litre engine in country. There are hardly any changes to the interiors apart from new colours. However, the instrument panel will get a digital display replacing the analog fuel level and engine temperature gauges. We also expect it to provide vitals like distance to empty and average fuel efficiency.
The new i10 will go on sale after its debut at the Paris Motor Show at the end of this month. The facelifted i10 with the 1.2L VTVT is expected to cost more than the outgoing model by Rs 5,000-10,000. Stay tuned to Wheelosphere for more updates.
