The i20 certainly seems to be a power seller for Hyundai. The entire range is available right from the 1.2L Kappa to the 1.4 petrol (available with automatic transmission) and the 1.4 diesel. The British division of Hyundai have made some changes to the i20’s aerodynamics and engine. As a result, the i20 now travels farther and emits lesser. The interiors too receive changes.
The biggest news is the 1.2L Kappa engine that now emits just 119g/km while the figure is 129 for the 1.4 petrol. The 75bhp diesel emits 110g/km while the 90ps version sees a 7.2% rise in fuel economy thanks to a 6-speed gearbox that is available in India as well. The improvements were possible due to the implementation of a small spoiler underneath the car to improve airflow around the wheels, fitting an Eco Drive indicator in the instrument panel to suggest the best point to change gears, using low friction engine oil and an alternator management system that disconnects and connects when required. To reflect upon these changes, the dashboard and instrument cluster instrumentation are now backlit in blue colour (it was red earlier). The audio system now features bluetooth sync with your mobile phone. It features voice recognition and is standard across the range expect the base spec Classic.
UK models start at £9,520 (Rs 6,66,000) and come with an unlimited mileage five year warranty as standard.
