H S Lheem, present MD and CEO of Hyundai Motor Co Lts (HMIL) will be replaced by H W Park. Mr H W Park would be taking charge of highly successful HMIL from November 5th. H S Lheem would join the company’s head quarters in Seoul, Korea. Under his stint, HMIL constructed its all new plant and launch the highly successful i10 and i20 models.
H S Lheem joined HMIL in 2005 and has brought the company to an all new level in India and was instrumental in establishing Hyundai’s R&D facility in Hyderabad. A company spokesperson said Lheem played a crucial role in preparing the infrastructure to turn India into a hub for development and manufacture of small cars for Hyundais global operations.
However, recurrent labour unrest at HMILs Chennai manufacturing facilities this year prompted the company to consider shifting the manufacture of a portion of the i20 model to a European production facility. H S Lheem also holds the post of treasurer of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers.
