Hyundai launches i20 in Era and Sportz variants; i20 Era from Rs 4.5 lakhs

With the 1.2 segment really hotting up with an array of launches from the Beat to the Figo to the Polo, Hyundai has launched two lower-end versions of its i20 hatchback to take the fight to the competition. The i20, which was only available in the Magna and Asta trim levels will now come in Era as well as Sportz variants. The new variants are on sale in the market with prices for the Era at Rs 451,816 and the Sportz costing Rs 531,817. With these two variants, Hyundai aims to bridge the gap between the i10 and the i20 Asta (with the Era) while the Sportz slots in between the Asta and the Magna. The new variants will be available with both petrol and diesel engines.

Commenting on the launch, H.W. Park, managing director & CEO, HMIL, said, “We are pleased to announce the launch of the i20 with new features and two new additional variants. While the variants are targeted at our customers who have different needs, the new features will help improve the i20 and make it even more desirable for our customers. We are confident that with the new features and additional variants the i20 will become even more attractive and set new benchmark for this class of cars with improved styling, unique features and conformity with global safety standards.”

Moreover, the i20 sports several segment firsts like the 6-speed manual transmission for the diesel 1.4 resulting in improved performance and reduced fuel consumption, manual transmission shift indicators, 5-Star Euro NCAP rating among others. The new features added are – new Chrome Radiator Grille and outside rear view mirrors with integrated turn indicators, blue LED interior illumination, silver centre fascia and chrome finish on inside door locks, Fully Automatic Temperature Control (FATC) system, in-built USB port (in Magna) and several other attractive features like a burglar alarm, steering wheel with audio remote and passenger vanity mirror (in Sportz and Asta).

The hatchback buyer is now pampered to the maximum extent with so many choices in the marketplace. India is heaven for anybody looking to buy a hatchback.
