Hyundai recalls 140,000 Sonatas; Indian models not affected

Hyundai has announced a recall of 139,500 Sonatas manufactured between December 2009 and September 2010 due to steering column issues. Indian models are unaffected as we still make do with only the older Sonata Transform and not the new Sonata YF that is sold globally. The steering column intermediate shaft universal joint may be improperly assembled causing complete separation of the steering in extreme situations.

The fix will done free of cost to all owners who just need to take their cars to the nearest Hyundai dealership.
