Nissan will launch its iconic Z on January 20. The historic model is touted to be the first affordable sports car in the country. Benchmarked against the Porsche Cayman (which is still the better than the Z) and the lot, the Front engined rear wheel drive coupe will have a huge fan following in the country.
Putting out 335bhp from its 3.7L V6, this will redefine performance motoring in the country. The VQ37VHR (VHR – Very High revving) peaks 335bhp @ 7000rpm while peak torque is 365Nm @ 5200rpm. While there is a proper 6-speed manual gearbox with Synchro Rev Match system, Nissan is more likely to bring the 7-speed automatic with paddle shifters. This is more to do with prices which should cross US$ 40,000 for cars to be imported without homologation. If sales are promising, Nissan will homologate the car and import manual versions at a much lower price.
While the legendary GT-R is what we were expecting, it is sadly not here. The reason being this – Nissan conceived the 370Z as a global car while the GT-R is not. Though Indian conditions are far improved, Nissan doesnt import it officially.
