VW engineers are doing overtime to launch their Polo based Vento sedan in Indian market. We had earlier reported that VW Polo Sedan christened VW Vento Sedan will be launched in India soon. Recently VW India officials reaffirmed the timeline, Vento will make it’s first public appearance in the month of July 2010. The commercial launch will happen by September 2010. This is the background of the story, now Burlappcars brought a set of VW Vento Sedan direct from factory. The exact location of the factory in unknown. VW is readying another important launch 2012 Jetta based on Golf made for American market. Both these models look similar in exteriors and you may have to spend some moments to identify the differences between these two sedans.
VW Vento’s front grille looks similar to US Jetta but the horizontal members have been under gone chrome treatment. The head lamps are appeared to be with a smoky shade. The rear got a new pair tail lamp similar to Polo Hatch. In US Jetta the tail lamps are split into two pieces. Another notable change in Vento is absence of 3rd window. The power plant options are not yet clear, but we expect both 1.2 and 1.4 ltr engines will be chosen by VW.
2010 VW Polo Sedan will be pitted against other family sedans like Honda City, Ford Fiesta and Fiat Linea. VW has benchmarked Honda City, for finalising space requirements. They might have succeeded in that but the design looks very basic and blunt, and we doubt VW Vento sedan can really compete against these proven cars in Indian roads. We do admit the fact German engineering and build quality will give an edge to Vento. VW Vento has to focus departments like fuel economy, interiors and other accessories to pull the crowd towards it.
The pricing of VW Polo Sedan will be in the range of Rs.7 – 9lacs. VW India’s Chakan plant has already started manufacturing of Vento sedan. So it seems the launch plan is on track. India or Russia could be the first market which receive Vento.

What a great find! However, I would have loved to see the Jetta and Passat’s twin circulat tail lamps.
@Harry,
A “zero excitement design” concept from VW. There is not even one design element interesting and appealing (atleast for me). So we have to wait to feel it then we will have a final verdict.
How come this Indian car has left hand drive ?
Dear Pankaj,
You are true, these images are from VW’s overseas plant. With the launch of Polo Sedan in India VW will be offering it in many other international markets like, Russia, Mexico, Argentina and Brazil. So we believe it is LHD version of our VW Vento. There are believable proofs, look at the front grille don’t you think it’s directly taken from Polo hatch? again look at tail lamps, they are more or less same as hatch. We can easily identify the relation by the clear lens lining in both hatch and sedan Polo’s tail lamps.
