Competition increased as the track started drying late on Friday. The drivers finally had some laps out in during dry conditions. The morning wet weather provided plenty of drama and frustrations when in one incident Virgin Racing’s Lucas Di Grassi made a trip into the gravel trap. Red Bull came out on top with Mark Webber clinching the fastest time with 1:19.299. Button and Alonso were quick with the Spaniard outpacing the Briton by almost 0.3 seconds. Virgin and Lotus remain at the bottom end of the field, over 4 seconds off the pace of leaders.
