JK Tyre wins award for excellence in environment protection

Renowed Indian tyre manufacturer JK tyre has been awarded the Golden Peacock Environment Management Award, conferred by the World Environment Foundation, UK, in the manufacturing category for excellence in environment protection. The company received the award for its Banmore plant.

JK has always maintained its commitment to making it green. It further stresses on its commitment by launching India’s first eco-friendly tyre in 2005. This special type of tyres replaced key ingredient-carbon black by Silica, which also improved fuel efficiency (due to lower rolling resistance) and is less damaging to the environment.  The green tyre was developed indigenously at JK Tyre’s state-of-the-art R&D facilities at Hari Shankar Singhania Elastomer and Tyre Research Institute (HASETRI).

To add on, JK Tyre was the first tyre manufacturer to receive ISO 140001 certification for environment management JK Tyre was the key sponsor of the maiden rally of eco-friendly vehicles staged on the eve of 4th EFV Conference 2009, initiated by the ministry of heavy industries. JK tyre also supports Baja SAE India series in India.
